We treat depression by carefully observing particular thinking or emotional patterns of an individual. We encourage and help the individual trace the sources of these thinking and emotional patterns. We help the individual understand how they have contributed to their depression and how they are affecting different areas of their lives. Some individuals function with depression;- they hold down good jobs and have successful careers and families and interpersonal relationships.
However, internally they might feel empty and continually sad regardless of their achievements. Some individuals barely function and find it almost impossible to get out of bed in the morning to face life or even the day.
All types of depression can be treated by trying to help the individual understand the root of the depressive emotions.
