About Me

About Me

Becoming a counselor was something that I had a great interest in from a very, very early age. I wanted to listen to people, help them understand themselves and ultimately give hope.

As I matured and got older I began to look for organisations where I could volunteer to just listen and be there for people that were facing difficult times in their lives. I started volunteering at Mencap (I believe that is now called Mind). I realized that this was a calling/ vocation and decided to find out how to train to become a qualified counselor/ psychotherapist. I started training in 1998 while working within another Industry that I knew I would be leaving to follow my calling.

My Mission

To be there to help you understand, explore and heal wounds from pain and trauma of the past that are affecting your present. To do this in a safe environment and give hope and change for the future.

Model of Psychotherapy

I work predominantly within the psychodynamic model of psychotherapy. This type of therapy focuses on revealing the unconscious content of an individual’s psyche to help relieve or understand where psychic tension originates or is coming from. To bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, this helps individuals to understand their deep rooted feelings. This helps to try and resolve the problems and issues that they are experiencing.

I began my clinical work, pre and post qualification at the Complex Care Clinic of St Ann’s Hospital part of the Haringey, Enfield and Barnet NHS Trust in London. I provided psychodynamic therapy for individuals who had very complex psychological/ emotional/ mental health problems such as borderline personality disorder, paranoid schizoid disorders, depression, anxiety and many more. Most of the therapy that I provided was long term, face to face.

I worked as a counselor at the Enfield Women’s Center providing counselling to women that had experienced domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, rape, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and a general inability to cope with life.
